Your yard should feel like part of your home, not an afterthought

I create natural outdoor spaces that draw you outside and make your home feel complete.

I’ve been landscaping since 2001, and over the years I’ve learned that the best outdoor spaces are the ones that quietly change how we live. When a fountain draws you outside at the end of the day. When you sit under a tree with your morning coffee instead of scrolling inside. When your yard becomes part of your life instead of something you walk past.

Creating outdoor spaces people love to spend time in has always been my compass. I started in Victoria, working for a landscaper before launching my first gardening company in 2003. Over time I shifted into landscape construction and natural design. In 2017, my family and I moved to Nanaimo to be closer to relatives, and after a few years in academic research, I returned to landscaping because creating meaningful outdoor spaces is where I belong.

Even while I stepped into research work for a few years, I never stopped noticing the details that make outdoor spaces feel alive. Then my wife and I built a small water feature in our own yard. We found ourselves outside every evening, watching the water glow and listening to it spill over the rocks. Our kids wandered out too, hopping from rock to rock along the stream. It changed how we lived in our home, and it reminded me why this work matters. That was when I knew it was time to return full time.

Clients often tell me they chose me because I listen and because I see things others do not. I spend as much time observing as building. I study the forest floor, mountain streams, and coastal stone for guidance. To me, natural style is not wild or messy. It is intentional and balanced, letting stone, wood, and water shape the space. I have always had a deep love for plants. My wife used to call me plant boy because I would get excited about where a fern chose to grow or how salal wraps itself around a rocky slope. That curiosity still guides my work.

Today I design and build water features and natural outdoor spaces across Central Vancouver Island. My focus is creating calm, organic spaces that feel like they belong, and that draw you outside to enjoy them. Quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful service guide every project. From our first call to the moment you dip your hand in the water and settle into your new space, my goal is for you to feel supported and excited about what we are building together.
